Can we please stop recommending the likes of Ledger and Trezor?

ETA: I am not trying to attack anyone here, I too was fooled by ledger, I own both an S and an X.
Upon further learning I learned just how unsecure they were. I bought the marketing hook line and sinker myself.

I know, this might be a very controversial take for this subreddit, but these companies' marketing has been pretty damn pervasive.

Too many times on this subreddit I see people recommending these products as something secure, as almost foolproof.

Unfortunately, that's just their marketing at work, and it's sadly working. Take ledger for example:I'll copy my comment from here

The company has leaked 273k people's data with 0 recourse,Due to shitcoin support, bitcoin was sent instead of shitcoins source.If you use ledger live instead of something like electrum, it phones home to ledger's servers.Which if said servers are down you cannot transact source.It's also closed sourced so who knows what the hell it's doing under the covers.Not to mention it's not airgapped.

Imo coldcard is much better as a solution.

Also to quote MisterRGnome, if you MUST use these devices, do NOT use their bundled in wallet software, use something like electrum, blue, sparrow, ANYTHING else to handle your signing/transacting.

Trezor is similarly bad, maybe slightly less.

they're open sourced, but They have been hacked if you have physical access to the wallet.You'd think a company that sells itself on security would you know, revise their hardware to make this impossible, but they haven't!

There are myriads of issues with so many hardware wallets.

coldcard comes closest to being good, but they're not without fault either.

Their recent mk4 comes with NFC support that flies in the face of what their philosophy was. They're appealing to the masses and trying to get your money, making their device less secure in the process.

if you're serious about being safe take a look into something like Glacier Protocol.
