An interesting thing happened to me over the holiday weekend. A little backstory; My father, who's in his sixties, has been one of the biggest Bitcoin skeptics I've known. I started talking to him about Bitcoin all the way back in 2014, and every time I brought it up he gave the typical, old-fashioned boomer arguments against it. You've all heard them before. "It's all speculative," "It's too volatile," "Magic internet money," etc...
It had gotten to the point where I was actually apprehensive about telling him that I've been investing in the asset, just so I don't have to get scolded about being "reckless" with my family's savings (reckless... lol). But this Christmas I had decided to make my stance on Bitcoin known.
I sent my father some Sats to his email (yes, through Coinbase, sue me). He laughed, and asked almost in disbelief, "Did you just give me cryptocurrency for Christmas?". I said I sure did, and told him I would be more than happy to help him set up an account on Coinbase. Then he opened up the app on his phone, and transferred the BTC into his existing exchange wallet! He already had a Coinbase account!
I may have been a little skeptical about how much mass adoption Bitcoin has seen this past year, especially on a retail level. However, after that experience, I'm certain. Bitcoin isn't a speculation anymore. I hope you all had a wonderful holiday, whatever you celebrate. Thank you for reading my little anecdote.
