Home robbery

On the evening of Thursday, June 24, 2021, the doorbell rang at the home of the declarant [victim] (hereinafter: declarant) at the [street name] in Leeuwarden. There were three men in green KPN jackets at his door. They said they were there because of the upstairs neighbor's fiber optic cable having a malfunction. And that cable would also run through the meter cupboard of the declarant. 2 One of the men suddenly pushed his arm against the throat of the declarant and put his other arm around his neck. It was said that they came before his ledger 3 . Initially, the declarant could not explain what had happened afterwards. 4 On 15 July 2021, the declarant stated that he was held in a stranglehold by the big boy in his home and that he was beaten. That's all he could remember. 5

The declarant gave the following description of the man who grabbed him: he was slightly tinted, possibly of Moroccan origin and his length reached his eyebrows. The declarant himself is 1.92 meters. The man spoke good Dutch. The man standing at the window had a stocky build and a stubble beard. The reporter could not give a description of the third man. All three men wore green jackets, one of which was brighter in color. 6

5.1 Bitcoin was taken in the robbery. 7 The declarant had two ledgers and two recovery seeds 8 with which access could be gained to his bitcoins. One of the ledgers was in a white bowl in the kitchen. 9 If the recovery seed had not been found, then according to the declarant it could only be that he had given the code of the ledger under duress. 10 The Ledger Live program on the declarant's computer is used to transfer bitcoins. To do this, the ledger must be connected to the computer and a pin code must be entered that the declarant knows by heart. According to the declarant, the code was knocked out of him during the robbery or the code was stored in a text file on his computer. 11

Two neighbors of the declarant were heard as witnesses. Witness [name 1] heard someone banging on his door at midnight on 24 June 2021. He found the reporter. His wrists and ankles were duct taped. His arms were tied behind his body and the duct tape stretched from the tips of his fingers to his wrists. The reporter had a cut on his head that was bleeding profusely and his left eye was swollen and closed. 12

Witness [name 2] lives in the apartment above that of the declarant. He was asked for help by witness [name 1]. He saw that the declarant had tape around his mouth and a lot of tape and a tie wrap around his wrists. His head was blue. Witness [name 2] heard people in the home of the declarant between 9:30 PM and 10:30 PM. This was striking, because the declarant hardly ever had visitors in the evening. 13

Officers who approached the report found the declarant with a bloodied face with multiple swellings. He was very confused and the injury seemed to be affecting his memory. 14

The declarant was examined in the hospital by a forensic doctor on 25 June 2021. He has been diagnosed with mild traumatic skull-brain injury and bruises and abrasions all over his body. In addition, he had blurred vision, his eyelids were significantly swollen and he had a wound above his eyebrow.
