Do you think adding community points like Moons) to other subreddits will improve their quality?

I've been seeing some talk about this recently, the idea that Reddit wants to expand community points like Moons other subs on the platform. But is this going to improve the quality of these communities?

I feel like Moons are much of what the discussion ends up being about here. It really is cool in concept, but I think it undeniably has some negative consequences. We all know what I'm talking about and I don't think there's really any need to rehash that, since this is more a discussion about how this would affect other subs.

I mean I could see subs getting flooded with bots, or ending up turning into a circle jerk of karma farming posts, but my only real experience with this system is here, because I don't post in the ETH sub and I don't give a shit about Fortnite. Is it the same way in those subs as it is here? If not, any idea why not?

I guess my bottom line is that on paper this is a great idea, boosting engagement and keeping interest in the sub alive. But it seems like many just comment for the monetary rewards, so while the engagement is higher the quality feels noticeably lower.

I'm wondering what other people think about this. Probably won't reply, I'm just curious if anyone sees any pros to this that I'm not considering.
