I don't like the term cryptocurrency because it associates bitcoin with all the shitcoin scams out there and implies they are all the same. I think using the word currency gives bitcoin the proper amount of respect it deserves.
And currency is the more accurate term anyways. When El Salvador adopted Bitcoin as their legal tender in 2021, Bitcoin unofficially became a Forex currency. Bitcoin is currency to the people in El Salvador, and El Salvador is working to be a circular bitcoin economy where you will never be forced to convert into another currency in order to pay a bill or debt.
