There are a number of relatively small aspects of this video that are wrong. Out of all of them, claiming that Ethereum competitors had anything to do with the suite of upgrades is the one I have the most issue with.
Ethereum migrating to Proof of Stake has been a likely scenario since the whitepaper:
"Note that in the future, it is likely that Ethereum will switch to a proof-of-stake model for security, reducing the issuance requirement to somewhere between zero and 0.05X per year"
It's not as though in 2017 the EF was getting worried about the rise of EOS nor are they worried today about other "ETH-Killers", that is a traders mindset. From all the ACD's I've watched, not once can I recall another chain being mentioned in this manner. What has been discussed over and over again is the absolute necessity to get Proof of Stake out due to the environmental impact
With that said, I do very much appreciate the short discussion about the complexity of this change, the potential impact of failure, and thus why it has taken much longer than expected.
