Last BTC will supposedly be mined in 2138, it is 115 years from now. Just as reminder, whole crypto is just 14 years old and 115 years ago we had year 1908. Did average person in 1908 imagine wwI that happened just 6 years later? Tens millions dead, empires that lasted for centuries fell... Spanish flu that in 1918 killed tens of millions, communist revolution in Russia in 1917, Gread Depression in 1929, rise to power of nazis in 1930's, wwII even worse than wwI, cold war, space race, beginning of computers, internet, smartphones, social media, commercial planes, totally different tech and morality, different everything. They definitely couldn't predict existence of crypto either. Of course not, it is hard to predict things just few years ahead, predicting anything few decades from now is just pure gambling or fugazi.

Even if BTC and ETH are something amazing and very safe and most likely they will be in the years to come, everything have it's limit. I can say I believe in 5 or 10 years those two most likely will still be best crypto projects. But in 20 years, 50 years or 100 years from now? Ignoring fact most of us won't be alive in more than few decades, even 50 or 60 years is a lot time. 50 or 60 years years ago we were before first space flight, most things people had 100% faith back then now are just long gone. No tech, no country, no company nor product can last forever. World change, culture change, tech improve. Maybe in 30 years from now BTC and ETH won't exist and whole crypto will be gone for whatever reason. Most likely we will simply have more effective projects, with better tech, improved version of BTC and ETH, mucj cheaper to use, more eficient, faster. BTC was basically prototype of crypto, it is amazing it is still top 1 after all this time.

But truth to be said I also can see nothing changing. If we will treat BTC and ETH just as store of value and they will be improved they may easily last decades too. It is simply all guesses. But even if they will last 100 years or more they will eventually too. Even Rome or Ancient Egypt fell. Every generation/ historical era like to think they are the peak of civilization, and maybe we are. Maybe in 200 or 300 years humanity will be dead or go backward or maybe all our concerns about privacy, decentralisation, inflation will be silly to future generations.

So be open minded, maybe we will have to say goodbuy to BTC and ETH during our lifetimes just like we said goodbuy to brick phones with keyboard, discmans, floppy discs, or many things that in 1980's, 1990's or early 2000's everyone used. World move ahead whole time. We are pioneers, we use crypto cause it is fresh and lifechanging tech, but it is still too young field to stay the same. In my opinion next 10/20 years will go heavily into AI, automation and metaverse/ vitual reality kind of setting. Even if those things are't big enough yet they can change world in ways no one can imagine. Not sure where will be place of traditional coins like BTC and ETH then. Maybe it will improve their standing maybe the opposite.
