Hello All,
I have been mulling over how to handle my crypto ownership. I have been using a CEX as that has me the most comfortable. I consider myself relatively technically literate, but I have a very "dont underestimate ANY risk" instinct which has kept me from getting a proper cold wallet setup.
One thing I hoped was that, with time, social recovery would improve to a point where its the best option for someone like me. I am honestly more concerned with loss from death rather than someone stealing my funds at the moment. I want to make sure I can pass on funds to my partner if something tragic were to happen, however they are not very technically literate.
I am hoping people can fill me on with their experiences on using social recovery schemes. I only really know of Argent, but I would love to hear experiences with any more that are out there.
Essentially I am looking to answer the following; Is social recovery at a point where:
- It shows evidence for minimal security holes/smart contract bugs
- Whatever the responsible organization is, they have a long-term vision and is not at risk of shutting down/founders running off
- Technically illiterate people will be able to get access of funds in the event of death (does not rule out maybe having to find a technical friend/trusted person to help)
I would appreciate any thoughts/advice/experiences that will help me come to an answer.
Thank you!
