Greed will be the thing that kills us all - or maybe not?

Many great thinksers have said it in one form or the other:

“Greed makes man blind and foolish, and makes him an easy prey for death.”

So what actually defines greed?

"intense and selfish desire for something, especially wealth, power, or food. "

Greed is intense, it is selfish and it is about possessing or claiming all the wealth/power or other object of value for one to keep for him or herself. Research shows that individuals that are focused (or obsessed) with financial success are less stable and less happy than average people.

So how does greed affect our economy, our markets, our investments and with it crypto? It makes people do the things we have seen, and have been seeing so many times. People create ponzi schemes, scams, try to lure people into investing in X or Y in order for them to benefit themselves. We have seen already so many people losing it all while others, the greedy, take their money.

On a more personal level, greed will affect your ability to analytically evaluate your investment decisions, it will make you overconfident, or will make you FOMO. All aimed at making your individual wish and desires come true at the expense of others.

We see it too, in this sub, where MOON earning with contributions and comments becomes a competition of strategically post, comment, and yield as many karma as you possibly can. It hurts the actual intent of a social media platform.

So, will greed eventually also kill crypto? Will the entire ecosystem that has been build so far come crashing down as greedy individuals will try to get their benefit? Not likely, in my opinion, as there have been many (recent) examples already that were absorped by the market. Nevertheless, the cryptomarket is flooded with people that are aimed at some degree of greedy objectives.

Being greedy, or being self oriented, in a way, is not all bad. I am a firm believer that you should take care of yourself first and foremost, in all ways, to be able to offer your support to others. And exactly this is where it becomes interesting. Living for yourself but being able to help others is very fulfilling.

I would therefore, not avocate to remove greed completely. However, we should focus on the opposite of it more often and more deliberately. Also here, in this sub, in the crypto community, and with our crypto investments. How? By being more willing to give to others, by being generous, by being open to support others, by opening our eyes to others. We are part of the same society and world after all.

Let's not have greed "kill us" let it be there on a healthy level, but bring the giving and generous elements into the crypto world.
