Here is a simple idea to prevent accumulated bitcoins from being lost in the event of death. And to prevent relatives or the bank from stealing them while you are alive.
Write down half the public key and half the private key and keep them at home. Write the other half of the public key and the private key and put them in a safe deposit box at the bank, in an account in your name only.
This way your relatives at home cannot know how many bitcoins you have nor can they steal them. And if the safe in the bank is broken into with only half the code, they can't do anything.
But if you die, everything you have in the bank passes to the heirs who will then have access to your bitcoins.
