DYOR is common advice for people who are looking to investing into any asset class, including crypto. I am curious to understand what makes good DYOR from a crypto standpoint.
DYOR to me, is primarily a function of expert judgement. In project management/strategic business roles, expert judgement is a tool used that basically says there is an untapped resource within people who have a lot of experience, so we're going to combine their opinion and past historical events with our data of how to do things. I think expert judgement is a huge piece of solid crypto investments (or any investment), and that just takes time to build over months and years (bull and bear markets).
Other things that I think are important in DYOR are the basics.
- Project Fundamentals/Market Fit/Market Need
- Tokenomics/Team Leaders/Reasoning for creation
- Hype/Marketing/Community
- What's the reason for the token to be held?
- Is this project/idea even feasible?
Lastly, I think you should always figure out what you DO NOT like in crypto (or any other investment). If you know what you don't like, you can figure out what you do like much easier. Not everything you like has to be mainstream, relevant, or well liked by others, but I think investing in things that you do like makes investing through ups and downs much easier.
