So the other day I was screwing around with the gas for a given transaction so I know where to set the alert on my phone for when gas gets to that level. I guess I mistakenly accepted it and it has been in pending hell.

For those of you who don't know, when a transaction is in pending hell, no future transactions can be approved until the pending hell one gets dealt with.

There isn't a clear will it ever timeout or not, but most think it won't. Like if it's pending due to a stupid low transaction fee. Then in theory it will be in pending hell forever.

Thanks due to ETH reddit page, here is the solution for anyone else that faced this.

Step 1: Go to here

https://etherscan.io and put your address in the search bar and look for the first transaction.

What you are looking for is

Under the other attributes, look at the Nonce and look at the number. Also look at the Max TXN Cost/Fee.

Step 2: Metamask

Go to your metamask. What you want to do is simply pick a random ETH address, and send it 0 ETH.

Under the gas

The underlined part in the image you want that higher than the Max TXN Cost/Fee on the scan.

After pressing save go and check the nonce is the same on the site. If it is, send it.

UPDATE: I forgot to add. if you can't see this you have to go to settings and advance. Then there is a toggle you have to select to let you see this and edit it.

Refresh the page and you will see for the pending transaction

Step 3

Go back to the first link (the scan) and look up your address. See if there is anymore pending. If you see any fail or reverted. Chances are you tried to do something twice before this got cleared up and one of the things like accepting a given contract was already done.

Anyways, if you see anything else in pending hell then repeat the steps above.
