Infosel, December. 16.- Group Elektra (MX :), a financial and commerce services company, will include as a payment method for purchases made on its online portal, making it the first retail chain in Mexico to accept cryptocurrencies in its operations.

The store, by way of introduction, launched a discount offer of up to 20% on the first purchase with payment in bitcoin, which will be valid from December 16 to 31, it indicated on its online portal.

“The rumors are true, @ElektraMx is the first retail store in Mexico that allows purchases with bitcoin,” wrote Ricardo Salinas Pliego, president of the conglomerate Grupo Salinas, to which the chain of retail stores belongs, on his personal Twitter account.

The Mexican businessman is one of the most visible Mexican figures that supports the use of cryptocurrencies, considering that it has advantages such as easy storage, zero cost of transportation, and the possibility of free exchange internationally.
