I asked my mom, grandma, best friend, and wife to call our senator about the new Crypto amendments. Ask your family, too!

My mom texted me to tell me she called our two Senators. This led to a conversation with my mom that I thought you all might find funny:

Me: It means a lot! Crypto is one of the few things that give me hope for the future. If they overregulate crypto - I know this sounds dramatic - I don't think the world will be around much longer after it!

Mom: Isn't it SUPER bad for the environment?

Me: Is Crypto bad for the environment?

Mom: I think there is mining for the parts to do the math problems

Me: 1. The legislation they are trying to push would significantly harm Proof of Stake systems.

Proof of stake is SIGNIFICANTLY better for the environment than Proof of work (e.g mining)

1. Bitcoin is a proof of work network. Although it isn't great for the environment-this bill doesn't effect Proof of Work crypto at all.

2. Energy should be a utility, and solar/wind/hydro electricity would remove all negative effect of BTC's proof of work system. But the government doesn't care label energy as a utility as that would hurt their lobbyist.

3. Lastly, we live in an inflationary environment. An inflationary environment promotes inefficiency, whereas a deflationary environment promotes efficiency. For a company to succeed in inflation, they have to produce MORE goods, wast MORE resources, pay MORE people, make people work MORE time. If we use an asset like Bitcoin as currency that isn't inflationary, companies (and the government) are incentivized to be much more efficient (I.e. work from home 15 hours a week because that's all we actually need you for), products would start to cost less and less and people would be incentivized to save rather than spend credit (I.e. get loans for homes, cars, student loans, etc.)

Changing our system makes us much more efficient and uses WAY less resources than we currently do.

BUT, I love Cardano because it's a Proof of Stake system that is way more energy efficient than Bitcoin and this law basically means Proof of Stake systems in America are toast
