Lately I have been seeing the game Crypto Royale mentioned all over the place on this subreddit as one of the best ways to earn free crypto, especially if you are from a 3rd world country. So I decided to play it and let you guys know what it really is about.

So what is the game about? You basically play with other players and battle against them, the last man standing wins the most amount of the coin $ROY. You only need a mouse and a somewhat-functional internet connection. No up-front investment, no downloads, and no signups are required (but having a Discord account is encouraged, more on this later). Each game takes less than 2min on average. The game is pretty much in its early stages and has not been around for that long.

For the actual gameplay, you can try the game yourself or watch it on YT, as I’m guessing you guys are more interested in the coin ROY. The coin can be used to vote on the future of the game but it is also stake-able for a 79% APY at this moment. I will cover the

ROY Tokenomics

ROY is a token on the harmony blockchain. There will be 400M ROY as max supply, with 230 to be burned (but couldn’t find more information on when or how). The game founders do not have that big of a chunk of the coin supply, which can’t be said about a lot of other projects, so that is good.

Token use cases

• The coin is used for Governance (to vote on the future of the game)
• Staking
• Entry to certain modes of the game
• Purchasing NFTs of the game

Earn ROY

Earn by playing

Depending on the number of players in a game (the max is usually 7), the game decides how much ROY is distributed over the last 2 or 3 players. This is from a game I just played:

As you can see, the winner can earn up to 92.98, but the chances of winning 92.98 are 1/1000, but the winner usually gets about double what the 2nd player gets. In the example above, the 2nd player gets 0.53, so if you win, you would get at least 1 $ROY. Why do I say at least? Because every time you win, you spin a wheel:

Dependent on where it lands, you get different amounts of ROY. Blue is the worst reward and is the most occurring but red happens pretty often. Chances are (approximately):

• Blue 66%
• Red 25%
• Green %5
• Orange %3
• Yellow %0.1

Note that the payouts per game won get reduced over time, so you won’t see these high numbers over a year but you won’t see a difference in the short-term.

Earn by holding

You get $ROY automatically sent to your metamask wallet by just holding $ROY, with an APY of %79 yearly.

I’m not that good at the game myself but I find myself winning quite often, but still I have managed to get 748 wins over the last 10 days or so, while playing an hour or so on average, per day. So in 10-15 hours in total:

Tips to maximize earnings:

• Hold more ROY, seems obvious, but the more ROY you have, the more you will earn, also from the spinning wheel in the game.
• Play daily, you will get 2.5 after playing for 4 days consistently.

As you can see, I have earned 22.5 by playing for 10 days and 10 $ROY for holding.

• Link your discord, that will earn you %10 more.
• Eat the boxes with the white sides in the game and kill more people, that will get you to spin a special wheel which will also give you some ROY:

• Participate in weekend tournaments, they give insanely good amounts of $ROY for the time you play. Ping the bot on discord and it will tell you when there is a tournament. Today, I finished 150/287 and got and got 16 $ROY for 5 minutes of gameplay!

• Enable notifications as there are times where the prizes are 2x and 3x, which happen daily. So instead of earning 0.5 $ROY when you are second in a 7 players game, you get 1 or 2 $ROY!
• If you are good at the game, play in the non-free modes, as they reward you much more! But there is a fee you need to play and players there just toss me around as I’m not that good:

• Play in training mode if you can’t give the game much attention. The rewards are like only %10 of the usual amounts but a win is almost guaranteed once you get up and running, so you view it as a faucet if you are really busy and can’t focus on the game much.
• Read the comments below as I’m pretty novice to this game and I’m sure others will see it and drop hints below.

Roadmap and in-going projects:

There is not a long-term roadmap available, for as far as I could find, but they are working on different gameplay modes, and so far they have delivered on everything they said on the roadmap. I’m guessing a new version will come soon:

Summary:

To summarise, here are the advantages and disadvantages as I view them.

disadvantages:

• It is a part of a relatively small ecosystem, that of Harmony. Compared to ETH, BNB, or SOL, the ecosystem of Harmony is quite small, so you are also betting on ONE if you bet on ROY.
• Information is all over the place and is hard to find at times. To write this post, I had to use the official website, an unofficial fandom website, their discord server and spend some time searching for the information. For example, I still can’t find more information on the token burn. The information is out there and the mods are nice enough to help you but the information is not in a central place. I guess they took the idea of decentralization quite seriously hehe.
• No whiltepaper (that I could find). This is not a major problem as the project is still in its early days but it is certainly something that is expected from any serious project nowadays.

advantages:

• A lot of development and a growing ecosystem; they recently added NFTs and a marketplace to buy and sell those. But also the projects that I showed above.
• The game has no learning-curve and is pretty easy to pick up by all ages; it is really easy to learn and you don’t have to know certain things before starting.
• Decreasing supply; as per the burn planned.
• You would be quite early in it, as there are only 5k holders so far

• Long-terms plans; they seem to be planning for at least 4 years as the $ROY you get for playing keeps decreasing until 4 years.
• Community is very friendly and mods are always active
• Doesn’t need that much focus/engagement, you can play it while in a meeting at work, just watching YouTube or having your morning coffee

So is it worth it?

It depends. If you are from a third-world country and have more time to spend on your hands, then look at my earnings to give you an idea: about $17 in 10 days or so (i.e. $1.7) with not that much of a playtime, but if you can play more than me and you are better than me, then i don’t think $5 a day is that far fetched.

If you are not from a third-world country or just can simply earn more per hour, you won’t get that much for your time and it is certainly not a way to earn good money (unless you hold and it goes up in price). But if you play games anyway and don’t mind earning some crypto while doing it, then hell yeah.

Whether it is a good investment, that decision is up to you, I just hope my post sparked enough curiosity to get you to research it or try the game yourself!
