..do they owe you the full amount of your crypto investment + profit, or only your initial investment?
You would think the answer is obvious.
Im asking because Fidelity closed an investment account of mine (i had stocks, ETFs that i already sold right before they closed my account along with my unsold crypto) and when they sent me a check for the total amount in my Fidelity account, for the crypto portion they only included my original crypto investment -- despite the fact that my crypto investment had 2x from original purchase amount. I had purchased that crypto over a year prior to them closing my account.
Do they not owe me?
Edit 1: i know i will be asked why they closed my account. Idk, they wouldn't tell me except to tell me they dont have to tell me.
My guess is that i triggered some AI fraud algorithm when i dumped all my holdings (except the crypto obviously) and tried to transfer everything to my bank. I never had an issue transferring anything before, to and from the bank account in question. Tried twice, both were cancelled. Tried to then transfer to my business checking, failed again and account was disabled. This Fidelity account was a few years old.
Edit 2: No this was not the first time ive bought crypto, first time doing it on Fidelity. Ive dealt with only exchanges prior and thought i would toss a few $ into my Fidelity crypto for the hell of it.
