Interesting experience at a Grocery store in South Africa

As someone into crypto, and while doing my usual errands I saw a bunch of kids at the grocery store paying for stuff with Bitcoin. This was mind-blowing as finally, I saw it outside an internet discussion/trading context used in the real world.

The store chain implemented Bitcoin payments and a bunch of kids were given some Bitcoin to test it. Here is the video of it. Even though, it looks staged, I think it is interesting.

I was hoping something like Cardana or Solano would be used instead as Bitcoin gets so much shit thrown on it from this community like it is slow/old etc, but still, it is showing up in the global south. Why don't they use one of the faster coins instead?
