Is it realistic to fund some kind of quantum computing or quantum encryption team with the bitcoin community?

I guess that the concept would be that some forward looking bitcoiners, will see the threat of quantum computing and develop some kind of soft or hard fork to prevent economic fallout due to quantum computer development. This would make bitcoin unbelievably attractive in the event such a development happens.
