Is My Investment Strategy Flawed? Am I throwing Money In The Wind? ELI5

I feel really embarrassed asking this, but I need an answer so I don't blow all of my money at the table.

So I buy Crypto and I feel as if I'm not making any money and being really dumb in the process (no jokes about how buying crypto is inherently dumb). I feel as if I'm the worst investor on earth. When the market was doing well and people were making 10x their money, I investing and losing money. Now that the market is in shambles, I'm still investing, and still losing money. It seems that no matter what I do I'm losing money.

I have a few different cryptos, but ETH is my primary focus. My theory is, If ETH is lower right now, I should continue to buy more every week while the price remains low, so that when -or if - the price goes back up to 4k +, I'll have a lot more ETH and, in turn, end up making money on my investment.

For context, I've been buying ETH, at the rate of like $25 a week, since like 2019 and I have no way of telling how deep I am. Unfortunately, I still don't have 1 full ETH so it's hard to measure my fractional success. Every time I've pumped money into my investment, the price has gone down. When the price was at 4,500.00 I had about $1200.00 saved into it. When it dropped to 3,000 a few months ago, I had about 800$ worth in my wallet due to the loss of value. When the ETH price dropped further to $1700, my holding were worth $500 - so I invested $300.00 more in and I was back to $800.00. Now it's dropped to around $1200 and I'm back at $500.00.

ELI5 - Is my investment growing? Am I making a difference; or am I just losing money over and over?

ELI5 - Why is this a bad investment strategy?

I feel like I have to be adding to the % of ETH that I own even if the overall value is decreasing.

I hope that this makes sense and someone can tell me if I'm being a retard. I think I'm just going to put the $700.00 in right now so I have 1 full ETH finally and it'll be easier to measure my success or lack there of. I'm looking for a simple answer to this, I posted it in r/explainlikeimfive but the question was too general for their community, so I came here.
