Knowing the basics of Bitcoin helped me pass an exam

All Cryptocurrencies

I'm a university student, and I recently had my final exams for the semester. One of these exams was for my operating systems class, and a portion of the content was on encryption. While reviewing for the exam, I came across something I was supposed to know called Asymmetric Encryption. I had no idea how it worked (because I skipped a lot of classes), so I looked up a youtube video on the topic. In the video, the creator explained that it's the same system used by Bitcoin, and that made it click instantly.

Essentially it's how the system of public and private keys works. The public key is something that anyone can find (and send to), but only the person with the private key is able to "decrypt" it or, in the case of BTC, access the coins. Anyway, I got my grade back and passed the exam partially because I knew the basics of crypto, and I thought it was cool how my (albeit limited) crypto knowledge applied to other things in the world.
