The Lebanese liquidity crisis is an ongoing financial crisis affecting Lebanon, that became fully apparent in August 2019, and was further exacerbated by both the COVID-19 pandemic in Lebanon and the 2020 Beirut port explosion.
On 21st September, 2022, Bank association announced, banks will remain shut "indefinitely" due to a lack of security protection by authorities.
Since then, people of lebanon have tried to rob the bank to withdraw their own savings.
One woman, went into her bank with a gun and asked bank staff to give her, her own money. She withdrew $13,000 cash from her own savings account using the gun. The Gun was later found to be a toy gun. She needed the money for her sister's cancer treatment. Many such incidents have been happening since September.
The very idea that you need to become a criminal and rob a bank for your own money, is quite crazy to imagine. You and your country might not be in this situation right now, but you cant deny, this can happen to anyone and any country.
This is the exact reason why Cryptocurrencies exist.
