Need help converting crypto into Tether on Ethereum blockchain

Long story short, I want to convert my Benchmark protocol into Tether. It is less than $150 worth of Benchmark on my Coinbase Wallet. I try to begin conversion and then it reads I need at least $268.00 of Ether to cover the network fee! I have just over $60 of Ethereum on coinbase wallet. I then tried using Uniswap but it won't commit to the transaction either. Do I seriously need this much Ethereum to cover a simple conversion??????? Surely I am doing something wrong. Please give feedback.
