New investors threw plenty of capital into crypto in 2021. Now that the growth story has slowed, many aren’t adding to their portfolios despite cheaper prices and better projects. An anecdotal observation regarding FOMO.

New investors put money in when market sentiment is positive, experienced ones funnel it in regularly.

That’s the premise my observations have led me too amongst my friends, family, and perusal of internet forums.

We’re fully aware of the journey crypto in general has had over the last couple years, and I’m sure for each of us we had several friends or people we knew all eager to throw some savings down and attempt to make enough to change their lives.

What I’ve noticed amongst those same communities is that they happily put money in amongst the bullish fomo of rocket emojis and lambos, but when those same investments fell, they were naturally upset yet seemed to have no interest in buying more.

Crypto projects, blue chip, alt, or otherwise, have come a long way in recent history, with various updates and worldly acknowledgments being developed everyday. Additionally, these same coins are cheaper than they were when they peaked. Yet, the concept of purchasing more is seemingly absurd to many people I know.

The kicker for me is then seeing a few days of climbing, maybe 5%, then 4% again, and the volumes fly and word is out, we’re back on!

As a wise green alien once said. “Is strong, the fomo.”

The underlying message beneath my squabble is that if you believe in crypto, and your chosen coins, tokens or otherwise, take the opportunities to regularly add to your investment within your means - especially if you see it discounted. And if you don’t have the determination to do so, you may need to ask yourself what your goal is with your investment. Because if you won’t add to it, you’ll sure as hell sell it before it realises its true worth.

TL:DR - New investors fomo and won’t ever truly succeed, because they fail to add to their investment due to an underlying lack of confidence in their choice and will surely lack the perseverance necessary to ever realise real profit.
