NFT marketplace without royalties

Hello folks, For a few days/weeks I have been trying to find out the way of working of OpenSea. Long story short, I’ve noticed that in every NFT token sale, there are some main actions.

  1. The sale amount of ether is sent to OpenSea wallet (fees)
  2. All other ETH is sent to the seller
  3. The token is transferred to the buyer.

As far as I know, the function to send a NFT token from one to other (ERC721) doesn’t require any ETH because its not a “payable” method. So technically it’s possible to bypass the creator royalties.

So am I right that it’s possible for someone to create a NFT marketplace without applying any royalty mechanism?
