There's a post up on the frongpage claiming "Litecoin is now being accepted to pay utility bills in North Dakota". The title makes it sound like the State of North Dakota, in it's entirety, is now accepting Litecoin as payment for utility bills (or, in other words, that you can pay for utility bills anywhere in North Dakota) . This couldn't be farther from the truth.
- The very article linked on the post has a different headline, where it clearly states it's for the before mentioned city of Williston.
- I quote from another article: WILLISTON, N.D. - Through a service called βBitpay,β residents of the city of Williston will be able to use cryptocurrency to pay their utility bills.
- Also it's very suspect to me that "Litecoin" is in the spotlight for the original post. I looked up and they'rer not discriminating against other cryptos or specifically accepting Litecoin.
Conclusion: You can use cryptocurrency for utility bills in a very small city of North Dakota, named Williston, with 27000 people. That's all. Claiming "it's being accepted in North Dakota" is stretching, and giving Litecoin the sole spotlight is very biased. I wonder what percentage of those 27000 people will actually use crypto to pay for utility bills. The number is probably very small.
Let's be better :)
