Providing passport for kyc, can I blur out any parts?

I understand the need for kyc so am willing to provide enough id to get verified. For me, the most readily available document is my passport.

Is this a recommended document for kyc?

Can I blur out any numbers on it?

I would ideally like to provide just enough id to get verified, and nothing more, to minimize how much personal information I need to circulate.
