Question re: "alleged" Ethereum ERC 20 Hack

Hello, I'm admittedly a novice crypto investor, and I was hoping someone here might be kind enough to offer an opinion about a investment that I'm involved in. In short, the parties running this program have alleged to myself and others, that the ETH-ERC20 blockchain was hacked this week, and they are now claiming to investors that we are now required to remit a 20% account balance (security deposit) to be able to withdraw funds from our accounts now. This sounds very suspect to me and sounds more like an extortion applied under false premises.

• Can some here please comment on whether this alleged hack is even a reality; and whether such procedures of requesting security deposits are even a legitimate method of operation?
