Reddit Avatars, the first easily verifiable way to flex

Regardless of how one might feel about the Reddit Avatars, they're an incredible success. With individual avatars selling for multiple ETH and collections hitting record numbers of volume, the avatars definitely have an active market of sellers and buyers and heck yes, I am one of them.

Bought in heavily in G1 (first generation) through Opensea as I'd missed the original drop mostly and lucked out for G2 as I was able to grab a few awesome pieces.

These avatars have grabbed me on all fronts, as a collector (wanting to have them all) as a "kid" (keep playing with different configurations) and as a speculator (I'm seeing a lot of potential for value growth)

What I admittedly also love is a bit more vein and ego driven. It's the idea that for the first time, it's incredibly easy to verifiably "flex" the expensive NFT goodies you hold on a major social media platform, across all commjnities. No need for special accounts, blue ticks or people copying jpgs to fake an NFT. With the right combination, one can create a 10 ETH avatar combo easily.

Reddit has made it extremely easy to display the money you were either willing to splurge, or the "wealth" (if I can call it that) that one has in terms of Avatar value. And yeah, I'm one of those shallow egomaniacs who also enjoys showing off my more expensive avatars, because I like em and because I'm "proud" of their value.

And yes yes, I get it, we have no idea if these will tank to zero eventually which would make me look incredibly stupid, but in the case it doesnt, could this idea of "verifiable flexing" have some use cases for Reddit in a broader sense? Or is just pure vanity in and of itself?
