Testing Seed Phrase

So a common piece of advice in the Bitcoin community is "don't keep your wallet after imputing your seed phrase into it if you ever needed to recover your Bitcoin, afterward go generate a new seed phrase on a new wallet".

While I tend to agree, the question then becomes..... how do you guys test your seed phrases then?

Are you using something like Trezor's seed phrase test in suite where you associate numbers with words?

Or is there some other way you're testing them?

Or do you have no problem buying a second wallet and testing out a full recovery?
