We all know that Ubisoft and Square Enix are not the only two AAA gaming publishers/developers that are going deep into NFTs and blockchain tech. I personally know of at least 2 other mainstream developers and a publisher that are working on this stuff which hasn't been reported on in gaming media yet.
By the end of this year, the discussion will be regarding who isn't making NFT/blockchain games rather than who is. This space is moving at lightspeed.
Because of this, the "anti-cult" (as coined by Hoeg Law from Virtual Legality) is going to intensify to a level that will make this current level of anger and outrage look like nothing. Right now, the majority of gamers online are likely anti-NFT, but as they slowly transition into the space over the coming months, that stubborn laggard crew is going to get louder and nastier.
I think it's clear that there isn't a soul in the gaming industry capable of covering this massive convergence of tech coherently. Even "the good guys" like YongYea, Colin Moriarty, and Jim Sterling make videos rife with misinformation and inaccuracies.
I for one have already been ostracized by two different gaming Discord servers that I've been a part of for several years once they found out I was interested in NFTs.
So, what do we do? This conversation isn't going anywhere. How can we bridge this gap and form peace?
