Thought experiment: bitcoin inheritance

I don't like the idea of not having complete solo control of my bitcoin, so I can't think of a way I feel good about leaving my crypto to an heir. I had a couple thoughts that may or may not be currently possible, but I'm curious what others thoughts are. Both deal with time locks and multisig wallets.

First, create a multisig wallet with 2 keys. Either key can function by itself. However, 1 key has a configurable timelock of X days/weeks/months/yrs before its active, the other is active immediately. So you could give the time locked key to the person you want to have the bitcoin when you die. Then you could just move to a new wallet every X years and update your heir with the new time lock key. Is it possible to set a timelock on only 1 of the keys?

Another option would be a timelock key that can have the timelock extended by a signed message with the active key. Then you could have a much shorter time lock and just frequently renew it. I'm assuming this isn't currently possible.
