To the folks hating on Ledger

First off, I agree with the fact that Recover feature is an incredibly dumb idea and that everyone who owns a Ledger device should switch over to a different cold wallet as soon, and as carefully, as possible. Don't fall for scams people.

HOWEVER.

You and I have NO idea why they made this incredibly stupid move which will effectively destroy them as a company.

AND

They are an easy, highly visible target for the various three letter agencies who can and do compel private companies to introduce surveillance software all the time. They then threaten said companies with legal action if they don't comply and make it illegal for them to talk about any of it publicly.

Sure, it is likely just about profit and sheer stupidity but my point is we won't ever know for sure.

Just be glad you found out, move on to a different cold wallet, and always use open source from now on.

Just like everything, bitcoin will only get stronger from this.
