(UK) What’s the best and cheapest way for me to deposit GBP?

Direct deposits via bank transfer and card are still down so I’ve been just paying for crypto directly with my card instead.
On a £600 purchase I had to pay £12 in fees (2%) but the killer was that the crypto I was purchasing was 5ish percent more than what the current market value was.
When PancakeSwap was around £9.50 per coin, paying with my card directly cost me over £10 per CAKE.
Any help on an alternative cheaper solution would be appreciated, thanks.
