What advice did you ignore only to find out that it was right?

I have to be honest. At first, I would always get frustrated when I would read these stupid little sayings, but over the last year of investing started, realizing how true they are.

“Don’t invest more than you can afford to lose.” I have lost count of how many times I had to hold or I had to sell because I just needed the money to go certain way. Gambling isn’t investing.

“Always be sure that you can sleep with your investments.”

I’ve lost track many times I’ve checked prices at night. When paired with the first problem of spending more than I can afford to lose, this has caused many sleepless night.

“No one is ever lost money taken profits.”

This one hurts. Instead of being a 100% I’m down 90%. That’s a big swing.
