From the beginning Ethereum became my fav crypto, it seemed more complex and interesting than Bitcoin since it is the home of smart contracts and decentralized applications, holding a major share of the total value locked in the sector. Ethereumβs dominance in the dApp market was up to 90% before other rival platforms were created.
Ethereum is still the undisputed king of dApps. Despite its high fees, the platform is still the first choice for different applications, ranging from finance, exchanges, and storage to gaming, NFTs, and governance.
This shows how far it has come since its whitepaper was published in 2013, it seems like it was yesterday, times definitely flies.
Like everything else, Ethereum started as an idea. And unlike Bitcoin, which was only intended for financial usage, the aim was to employ blockchain technology to create decentralized applications. This was the idea of Canadian computer programmer Vitalik Buterin, who is of Russian descent.
Today, we may even receive free renewable energy thanks to blockchain tech, if you look at projects like Elan Future; all of these things appeared so far away just a few years ago. I think that it's incredible how much tech evolved.
Like everything else ETH had its ups and downs through all these years, but I'm super excited to see how will it evolve in upcoming years, especially because the upgrade is expected to be fully implemented around 2024 or beyond. This means that until then, Ethereum will likely continue to depend on off-chain scaling solutions such as layer 2 and sidechains.
What do you find most amazing when it comes to Ethereum?
