Before I begin, I'm not a programmer so I had to find sources of 55 posts instead of scraping them on python or something, the pool size is pretty small because of that (usually you want hundreds or thousands of posts to get an accurate answer), but most of these posts are/were in the top upvoted of all time. A lot of people do moon farming, but what if some are doing it wrong? posting content that is too controversial, or hated by the community may be giving you more downvotes than wanted, so I compiled some posts and their upvote ratio to see which types of posts are the least downvoted. As noticed in this mess of raw data, the average per month of downvoted posts don't really change. Roughly every month about 10% of posts will be downvoted (again most of these posts were the top posts for the month, or year) When making this, I noticed something, any post about elon musk was instantly downvoted. I thought that was hilarious so I continued on and looked at specific categories Finally, let's look at the average upvote ratio per category... Tldr: If you want to get less downvotes, I guess you should post about the news. And if you want to have a lot of downvotes, you should talk about elon musk, EVEN IF NEGATIVELY. I'm actually hoping someone that can program will get a much larger sample size so that the data could be more accurate, but for now, moon farmers, post the news. (btw the news posted was actually good, and looked interesting, just spamming boring news 3 times a day every day won't work.) [link] [comments] |
