Why do I need to provide SO MANY personal information in order to complete sign up?

Hello binancers, I'm new here. today I wanted to try the app and sign up, I needed to verify my identity, I think email and phone number verification should be enough? but no I need to upload an ID card or passport, then upload a selfie with some requirements which honestly makes me uncomfortable.

So I need an answer, why is it important to me? how can I guarantee it's a safe application that doesn't use my personal info for other purposes?
