Weakest point of your crypto portfolio is your seedphrase. We all are afraid of losing it online, but bigger chances are that you will lose it offline. If you are careful online you should be fine, just don't connect wallet to any shady sites, don't open links, don't share your seedphrase. It is enough to limit chances of losing your crypto. But even if you do nothing wrong you still can lose all crypto if someone accidentally or not will just took away your seedphrase from you home. It require no phishing links, no hacking or scamming, just break in and search for it. Maybe they even won't have to break in cause they are your family or they will have a warrant.
Keeping you seedphrase with other documents or worse in open on table is risky for multiple reasons. You can lose it accidentally and additionaly 24 words writen on paper, even just with using google search is obvious sign of it being crypto seedphrase even for people that don't know anything aboit crypto. You may think your home is safe, your family is great, but when money are involved you should never just rely on trust. Greed make people do terrible things especially if they know you are crypto investor. You may be victim of targetted attack.
Every few months we see posts and articles about some criminal getting arrested and losing all their crypto. My first thought no matter if arrest was justified or not is what idiots, why they just keep their seedphrase laying around, why they didn't hide it better, encrypt or mix in some simple way or simply have few wallets with different seedphrases in different places. We love to joke about people getting out of prison and finally accessing their crypto, but first you need to be smart enough to actually not lose access to it. We literally had stories about people losing not even millions but billions dollars in crypto to government or thieves. Additionaly every few months we see people losing crypto to burglary or by being kidnapped, two such cases we had just last month.
So keep your seedphrase safe and well hidden. Possibly keep copies in more than one place and mixed enough that other random person can't just get it right after first try. Even mixing two random words may save you, cause thief will think it was written with a mistake and gave up. Even if they will try, it may give you additional time to move funds away.
I would advise of course keep healthy balance and don't be paranoid. Too much mixing can lead to you losing access to your crypto too... Remember even if you will have all words, but in wrong order your crypto is lost forever, cause no one can brutal force it even if you will beg for it. Simply it is impossible. So I think for example dividing your seedphrase into multiple parts and burying one in the forrest, keeping one in bank and one at home is overkill. Cause for once losing even one part screw you over and often too much security actually have opposite effect and my make your crypto easier to lose, cause you put target on your back, everyone will know you actually have rest of seedphrase somewhere. And if you will want to access wallet you will need all parts anyway which lower security since someone can just simply follow you.
So please guys keep your seedphrase safe from family members, wives, husbands, friends, thieves, government and anyeone else who want to put their hand on your crypto. Cause as long as you have seedphrase, even after divorce, war, going out of prison, moving abroad, getting robbed, losing job or any other tragedy you will still have your crypto safe and ready to use. Don't divide you seedphrase into parts, cause it actually lower security in most cases, just keep second copy in some other place. And make it hidden not obvious it is crypto seedphrase.
