Bitcoin is an excellent long term, buy-and-hold investment.
Short term, Bitcoin has tremendous volatility.
I don't see how Bitcoin is a wise choice for somebody who is already retired, unless they've just recently retired, are in good health, and have tons of cash sitting around and dropping in value from inflation. Not many people fall into that category.
