Hello,
I would like to know how to set up an environment where I can use my Ledger Nano S in a completely offline and air-gapped manner.
Like many others, I recently learned that using a Ledger device requires placing trust in individuals I have never met and will never meet, which makes me uncomfortable. As a result, I have taken the initiative to educate myself on how to create and safeguard my keys properly.
To establish a secure setup, I have repurposed an old laptop by installing Tails, a privacy-oriented operating system. I have taken the additional steps of removing the hard drive and the Wi-Fi card, ensuring that the laptop is completely air-gapped. Within Tails, I have access to Electrum, a wallet application that allows me to generate a 12-word mnemonic seed.
Now, my question is whether I can utilize my Ledger device to sign transactions in this setup. This would involve either generating a new seed on the Ledger device, knowing that it will never connect to Ledger Live, or creating the seed in Electrum and then importing it into the Ledger.
In any scenario, I want to emphasize that I will never connect the Ledger device to an online computer again. If I cannot achieve this level of security, then I will be left with no choice but to document my frustration in a video, expressing my dissatisfaction with this seemingly useless plastic piece of shit :)
Thank you for your assistance.
