I came across this post on the Europe subreddit:
https://np.reddit.com/r/europe/comments/tdfq09/crypto_industry_warns_of_existential_threat_from/
What I find incredible is that 99% of the comments are bashing crypto with the typical “high-level” and unfounded arguments that you’ll read everyday in the news: energy consumption, Kazakhstan riots because of crypto, money laundering, Russian evading sanctions, etc.
When I see that, I feel powerless. I have the knowledge to counter-argument, but this is too overwhelming. How would a vast majority believe the minority? I realize that the public opinion around cryptocurrency is still vastly negative. I think the media play a big role in inducing that pessimistic vision.
I was surprised to see that most media talked about crypto helping Russian evading sanctions but none of them mentioned the crypto donations made in a fraction of second to Ukraine and how they were used. Even when this was posted by their Deputy Minister for Digital Transformation.
I’m also frustrated to see that no media ever talks about PoS and how crypto is shifting to less energy-sensitive consensus protocols. Instead, they prefer to close their eyes and keep bashing, it requires less investigation and anyways, it drives a lot of clicks, so why change?
So guys, I’m seeking your help here to go to that post as a community and counter-argument the comments in a concise manner, supporting each other in that direction.
What do you think?
