Miners earning in a mining pool

I'm currently making an essay about bitcoin, and I wanted to make an estimate of how much would a ipotetic miner earn when joining a pool. I understood that there are many ways in which a pool pays miners, like pps fpps etc. but when I try to find formulae online to get an estimate I find a lot of discrepancies. Also online calculators never ask for the pool payment method or the pool total hashing power, is it possible that for calculating the profit I don't need them? are there any way to do this calculation? thanks
