The Wikimedia Foundation has been accepting cryptocurrencies for donations since 2014 following requests from Wikimedia volunteers and donors. In January 2022, the Wikimedia volunteer community requested feedback from contributors about the Wikimedia Foundation’s acceptance of cryptocurrency donations. Nearly 400 users participated in the discussion and ultimately asked the Wikimedia Foundation to cease accepting cryptocurrency donations. You can view the discussion here:

Please note that this discussion was initiated and facilitated by Wikimedia volunteer community members. The Wikimedia Foundation will discuss the recommendation from the volunteer community and provide an update by the end of April.

Are you serious? Bitpay is a centralized company, and one of the worst on the industry.
Bitcoin is meant to be peer-to-peer, decentralized, uncensorable medium of exchange.
That's your loss for listening to people who doesn't understand Bitcon (a decentralized protocol like TCP/IP), so would you refuse the use of the Internet if some users would advise you that? Do your research for yourself and don't fall for unsubstantiated pressures based on politics or emotions. Bitcoin is for everyone, everywhere, just like the Internet.
But you will realize that with time, or when your centralized channels (like Bitpay) get censored again.
It's your loss, I (and many more) won't be donating to you any more, till you restore direct Bitcoin acceptance.
We can't even if we wanted to, since many of us use only hard wallets and non-custodial apps and don't use centralized services anymore.
Good luck and let us know when you revert that ridiculous policy.
