TL;DR

• What is this thing? After blowing a few accounts on terrible single-name crypto choices, this portfolio/project was set up to see if DCA'ing emotionlessly would prove a profitable strategy over the long run.
• How's it performing? At the end of month 3, the portfolio has a lifetime return of -4.09%. Total inflows since inception are $1016.74 and the portfolio value stands at $975.17, yielding a lifetime PnL of -$41.57.

Performance Detail

The return for August alone was -14.22% (a PnL of -$161.59). The previous month had a return of -1.01%. Total inflows for the month were $469.88.

After a strong performance in July, August has seen the portfolio give up all of its returns and now stands at a loss.

BTC experienced a -14.37% loss. The price at the end of August stood at $20,023.55 (lifetime average purchase price of $22,208.25). ETH fell by -9.19% and stood at $1,552.56 (lifetime average purchase price of $1,395.94).

This biggest loser was RUNE which fell by -26.51%. SOL also suffered heavy losses (-25.66%), when reports of a hack affecting Solana wallets resulted in several thousand wallets being drained of their assets became public. AVAX (-20.83%) and DOT (-19.21%) were other large losers.

There were no positive performers in the portfolio; SHIB (-1.86%) was the best performer. That said, MATIC and ETH still maintain respectable lifetime performance from their strong showings in June and July.

Asset Allocation

The portfolio currently holds: BTC, ETH, BNB, XRP, ADA, SOL, DOT, DOGE, SHIB, MATIC, AVAX, LINK and RUNE. Despite almost equal inflows, the portfolio has become mildly unbalanced as a result of strong MATIC and ETH performance vs poor RUNE and SOL underperformance.

Crypto Fear & Greed Index

The Crypto Fear and Greed Index has shown strong correlation with the Degenomic portfolio performance through backtests.

Here we can see this continue to play out, with an increase in the index resulting in stronger performance in the portfolio. The dark red line represents a period of 'Extreme Fear', the light red represents 'Fear' and the white section represents 'Neutral'.

Final Comments

Thank you for getting this far and for showing an interest in this project. As someone who doesn't have the time to watch charts all day, this was set up as an easy, emotionless and consistent strategy to gain exposure to crypto, and I am curious to see how this portfolio performs over the long term. Seeing the portfolio ebb and flow in real-time also gives one a perspective for how volatile the crypto universe is.
