I am a collector and creator of NFTs, and I'm telling you : don't sleep on Reddit Avatars.

After initially thinking it was a ridiculous idea, I decided to become more interested in NFTs last year after losing my job. I had a lot of free time, so I fell into the rabbit hole and started collecting small art and PFPs. Two months ago I launched my very first NFT collection, Worthless JPEGs!, on Arbitrum.

All this to say that I think I have developed a flair for NFT collections. And I also believe that the vast majority of crypto enthusiasts are not paying enough attention right now to the new paid Reddit Avatars.

Reddit has about 500 million active users. Moreover, many of these users are deeply embedded in internet culture - much more so than Instagram or Facebook users, at the very least.

So I believe Reddit will be one of the first places on the web where NFT use will go beyond the insider circle.

Sales, which only just started a few days ago, are taking off. Several avatars are sold out, especially the most expensive ones ($75 US and higher). It's clear that by next week, most of the expensive avatars will be sold out, and even the cheapest ones could be sold out quickly.

But beyond the price, I've noticed a change in attitude among non-crypto people. Several Redditors reported that they loved the experience of buying their avatar, even though they didn't know it was a NFT; when they found out, they were initially a little embarrassed, but quickly forgot their worries and just enjoyed their new virtual avatar. I've seen it happen again and again and again on multiple subs.

It's not complicated. The vast majority of those who get a taste of NFTs are hooked instantly, even those who were fiercely opposed to them.

Finally, this project is immensely popular among featured artists. Most traditional visual artists are currently opposed to crypto in general, but seeing the huge amounts of money raised by the creators who have jumped on board, it's only a matter of time before they jump on board too.

For all these reasons, I believe that Reddit Avatars have a bright future ahead of them. There are still some left - I personally finished shopping this morning - and those who take a risk could, in my opinion, be rewarded in a few years.
